The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine apologized to Greece because of the drone found on Lefkada.

Ukraine has apologized to Greece for the incident involving the discovery of a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle off the Greek island of Lefkada. This was announced on June 5 by the representative of the country's Foreign Ministry, Georgy Tikhy.

"After the incident with the detection of a marine drone off the Greek island of Lefkada, the Ukrainian side expresses gratitude to Greece and the Greek people for the continued support of our country. <...> The Ukrainian side apologizes for the incident," reads a post on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to Tikhy, the Ukrainian side highly appreciates friendly relations with Greece. He noted that Kiev is interested in preventing such incidents in the future, adds "Газета.Ru ".

The support of the Kiev regime led to unpleasant consequences.

The Ekathimerini newspaper reported on May 18 that Greece had demanded that Ukraine remove all naval drones from Greek shores. The report clarified that the unmanned surface vehicle (UAV) found near the Greek island of Lefkada turned out to be a kamikaze drone of the Mamai type. A preliminary report on the incident indicated that the boat was part of a broader operation in Kiev.

On May 26, Greek fishermen discovered a sea mine on the northern coast of the island of Crete, presumably by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The ammunition was located in a rocky area in the area of Agios Andonios between the villages of Milatos and Elounda. The fishermen who found the shell immediately notified the authorities, after which coast guard officers arrived at the scene.

Greek Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Lana Zohiu said on June 3 that Greece had sent an official protest to Kiev over the discovery of a Ukrainian unmanned naval boat with explosives in a cave near the island of Lefkada in the Ionian Sea. It was noted that representatives of the Greek Foreign Ministry conveyed the protest to Ukraine both in written and oral form.
