Former CSKA hockey player Sedov was disqualified for doping for two years
Nikita Sedov, a former defender of the Moscow hockey club (HC) CSKA, received a two-year suspension for violating anti-doping rules. He announced this on June 5.
The athlete was temporarily suspended from competitions back in April 2025 after his doping test gave a positive result. At that time, Sedov represented the army club, which he joined in 2024. In August 2024, CSKA terminated the contract with the player.
"A lot of work has been done together with my legal team. As a result, the court found that the prohibited substance entered my body unintentionally and that there was no intent on my part. This is of fundamental importance to me. I have been fighting for this all this time, and that is exactly what we have managed to prove," Sedov wrote on Instagram (owned by Meta, whose activities are banned in Russia as extremist).
The hockey player noted that it was not possible to establish a specific source of the substance entering the body, which, according to him, is often impossible even when collecting a large amount of materials. Sedov stressed that according to the current rules, the very fact of the presence of a prohibited substance entails sanctions, regardless of the intent.
Earlier, on May 3, it was reported that the analysis of the doping test of the football player of Spartak Moscow, Anton Zabolotny, showed an unfavorable result. It was noted that the striker was temporarily suspended from training and competitions, but since April 30, the restrictive measures have been lifted by the decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency.
