The State traffic Inspectorate warned about the raids on the first weekend of June
On Friday and the first weekend of June, traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the country's roads, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate announced preventive measures on June 5.
Raids on drunk motorists will take place in the Ulyanovsk, Kirov, Ivanovo regions, the Komi Republic, the Republic of Bashkortostan and other regions of the country. On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reminded of the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. This is a gross violation of traffic regulations, the department stressed.
"Such irresponsible and criminal behavior of the driver poses a threat to his life, as well as the lives of his passengers and other road users. We kindly ask the witnesses to inform the police about drivers who get behind the wheel while intoxicated. The necessary response measures will be taken for all these reports. Such a call can prevent a tragedy on the road and save someone's life," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for the Promotion of road safety and prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entails the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability.
As reported on June 2, in 2025, there was a 4.1% decrease in the number of accidents in Russia involving drivers who were intoxicated or refused to undergo a medical examination, and almost 13.4 thousand such accidents occurred at the end of the year.
