The MEP pointed out the inability of the EU to engage in diplomacy.

The European Union (EU) is currently unable to engage in diplomacy. This was stated on June 5 by Fernand Kartheiser, a member of the European Parliament from Luxembourg, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"We are at ground zero. And this is largely due to the radical position of Ms. [head of the European Diplomacy Kai] Callas," he told RIA Novosti.

According to Kartheiser, Callas takes a radical position on Russia and prevents the resumption of dialogue. It will be difficult to achieve diplomatic progress without changing the approach of a number of European politicians.

Italian journalist Thomas Fasi noted on May 11 that Callas was appointed to the post of head of the European diplomacy solely for the sake of lobbying for military interests and the continuation of the conflict with Russia. Thus, he commented on Callas' speech against the candidacy of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder for the role of negotiator with Russia.

On May 1, journalist Brian McDonald pointed out Callas' obsession with the "Russian threat." He said that if the word "Russia" was removed from her vocabulary, it would be difficult to imagine what she would be talking about.
