The head of AVTOVAZ spoke about the preparation of powerful engines for Lada Azimut and Aura

AvtoVAZ plans to launch production of Lada Azimut crossovers and extended Aura sedans with new, more powerful powertrains in 2027. Maxim Sokolov, President of AvtoVAZ, told about this during a trip to Lada Azimut with Finance Minister Anton Siluanov. The recording of the test drive of the car, which Siluanov conducted as part of the SPIEF, was shown by the Vesti news agency in the Telegram channel.

"Next year we will install a turbo engine with a capacity of 150 horsepower, it will be paired with a classic automatic transmission with torque converters," Sokolov said about the promising updates of Lada Azimut.

During the trip, Siluanov, in a conversation with Sokolov, noticed that the Lada Aura engine "would like to be a little more powerful," and suggested that the stretch sedan could be equipped with a turbo engine. The head of AVTOVAZ replied that next year the Aura will receive a new unit for itself — an atmospheric 135-horsepower. Currently, Lada Aura is equipped with only a 1.8-liter 122-horsepower engine.

Sokolov told the Finance Minister that the Lada Azimut crossover will go on sale in the fourth quarter and at the first stage will be available with only two new atmospheric units — 1.6 liters with a capacity of 122 hp and 1.8 liters with 135 hp.

Following the Azimut test drive, Siluanov called the first Lada crossover a good and modern car.

As the head of AvtoVAZ said on June 3, the Lada Azimut crossover with a turbocharged engine is already undergoing tests, and based on their results, a decision will be made to launch the model into production.
