- The State Duma proposed to oblige the State Traffic Inspectorate to check cars with the sign "Disabled"
The State Duma proposed to oblige employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate to check cars with a disability mark in the registry. The measure is necessary to combat the illegal use of the sign, Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, said on June 5 in an interview with TASS at the SPIEF.
According to the parliamentarian, some citizens acquire the sign "Disabled" and use it illegally to occupy a parking space for the disabled. At the same time, employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate currently have no obligation to check the presence of a car in the register of persons with disabilities if the driver has provided his car with such a sign.
Nilov said that he insists on making changes to the relevant regulations so that traffic police officers are required to check whether a particular car has the right to park in places for the disabled. This is necessary so that the violator can be brought to justice immediately, the deputy said.
He also noted that the disabled themselves speak about the need for such checks, since parking spaces are often occupied illegally.
Earlier, on April 30, it was reported that LDPR deputies had drafted a bill envisaging the abolition of the recycling fee for combat veterans, large families, group I disabled people, as well as families with disabled children.
