On June 4, 2026, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, revealed the details of the use of the latest Oreshnik missile system on the territory of Ukraine. The Head of State stated that there was no combat use of the complex, and the strikes were carried out as part of the tests — wherever it is convenient to record the results. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

Putin's statements about the "Hazel Grove"

During the discussion at the SPIEF, answering questions from the moderator and participants, Vladimir Putin revealed the details of the use of the latest weapons. He stressed that the Hazelnut strikes on Ukrainian territory were carried out not only as a response to the terrorist attacks of the Kiev regime, which Russia had warned about in advance, but also for the purpose of practical testing of the missile system's combat capabilities.

We were hitting Ukraine with a hazel tree. We hit wherever it was convenient for us to see the results," Putin said.

The President also confirmed that the strikes are carried out exclusively on military and defense industry facilities, and not on civilian infrastructure. He clarified that this was done in response to the use of Western weapons to strike deep into Russia.
