AvtoVAZ's most affordable Lada Granta model will receive an automated transmission. This was announced on June 5 by Maxim Sokolov, the head of the company, in an interview with Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of Za Rulem magazine, published on the journalist's Telegram channel.

It is planned that Lada Granta with a CVT will enter the assembly line in the first half of 2027.

We are talking about the WLY variator, which is also installed on other Lada models. Initially, the unit did not fit into the engine compartment of the Lada Granta, so we had to work to make changes to both some body panels and the CVT housing. Changing the body panels will require adapting the production lines.

The automated transmission will aggregate only an eight-valve engine with a capacity of 90 hp. This means that it will operate in a torque-sparing mode and will have a significant resource close to that of the engine, the note says.

Currently, Lada Granta is equipped only with a manual transmission, the price of the base sedan starts from 850 thousand rubles.

As part of the SPIEF, AvtoVAZ presented the updated Lada Niva Legend SUV on June 3. The model received a new engine, upgraded chassis and body, as well as new electronic systems. According to Sokolov, the release of the new product will begin on July 20— AvtoVAZ's birthday.
