The actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) killed 507 residents of the Kursk region, 446 of them were included in the register of citizens who lost contact with their loved ones. This was announced by Governor Alexander Khinshtein on June 4 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"Unfortunately, human lives cannot be returned. This is the saddest and most tragic consequence of the events in our region. According to the latest data, 507 civilians died from enemy actions in the Kursk region, 446 of them were in the register that we have been keeping since the beginning of last year — the register of residents who lost contact with their loved ones," he said in an interview with TASS.

Khinstein reported on May 29 that 332 residents of the region continue to be listed in the missing persons database. He noted that in 2025, tremendous work was carried out to find people: of the 2,173 Kurians included in the register, it was possible to locate the absolute majority — 1,841 people.
