A boat carrying 240 Haitians trying to enter the country was intercepted in the United States.

On June 4, the head of the US Customs and Border Protection, Rodney Scott, announced that a boat carrying 240 Haitian citizens who were trying to illegally enter the United States had been intercepted.

"This week, aircraft interception agents discovered a ship with 240 migrants from Haiti on board, attempting to commit illegal maritime migration," according to a post on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to Scott, due to the number of people, water was being drawn into the vessel, which increased its risk of going under water.

It is specified that the boat was spotted from the air, and law enforcement agencies helped prevent the mass death of migrants and stopped their attempt to enter the country.

The head of the Customs and Border Service said that such actions are dangerous and do not guarantee entry into the country.

On the eve of the list, countries from Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia were added.

On May 30, NBC News reported that protests and clashes with police resumed in Newark, New Jersey, near the Delaney Hall migrant accommodation center, in which participants demanded better conditions at the center. The protesters claim that migrants are being held in inhumane conditions.
