The Iranian ambassador stressed the absence of nuclear weapons in Tehran's military doctrine.

The military doctrine of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) lacks the task of creating nuclear weapons, and reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) indicate that the State does not seek to produce them. This was stated to Izvestia on June 4 by Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"We have never sought to create nuclear weapons. This was the order of our late previous supreme leader," he stressed.

Speaking about the need for written guarantees from Washington about non-aggression in the future, Jalali noted that the United States and Israel carried out an unprovoked attack on Iran, explaining this by the need to prevent the creation of nuclear weapons, which were not part of the state's plans.

"This has essentially destroyed international law, and on the other hand, it has called into question the global humanitarian position. We need to resolve these issues internationally. And, of course, we cannot accept that they get a break and then attack us again, we must stop this chain of events," he concluded.

Washington and Tehran are stuck in a gray area of negotiations, but still want to make a deal.

On February 28, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araqchi, said that Iran had never intended to develop nuclear weapons and was negotiating with the United States out of goodwill. Araqchi stressed that Tehran has consistently participated in the negotiation process with the American side, demonstrating a constructive approach.
