Four players left the Russian national football team — goalkeeper Stanislav Agkatsev, defenders Daniil Denisov and Igor Diveev, as well as midfielder Artem Karpukas. This was reported on June 4 by TASS with reference to the team's press service.

The Russian Football Union (RFU) also noted that striker Konstantin Tyukavin joined the national team. Earlier, the player missed a friendly match against the Egyptian national team.

The meeting with the Egyptians took place on May 28 in Cairo. The match ended with a 1-0 victory for the home team. During the award ceremony, the Egyptian national team received a trophy for winning the game.
