The construction of a temporary arena for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on the territory of the White House could be compared to the creation of the Eiffel Tower, US President Donald Trump said on June 4.

In a video on the TikTok social network, the American leader recalled that the tower in Paris was erected as a temporary pavilion for the 1889 World's Fair. It was supposed to be dismantled immediately after the event, but the French liked it so much that they decided to leave it.

"They never took it away. We are building something that is very attractive to many people, right in front of the White House. There will be a big UFC fight on June 14th. I'll take a look, and maybe we'll never remove it (the arena. — Ed.)," the politician noted.

Trump plans to hold the UFC Freedom 250 tournament on the White House lawn amid a military operation against Iran. As noted on March 19, the event is timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, as well as the 80th anniversary of the American leader. The tournament is rated as one of the most significant events, which will feature title fights and the participation of mixed martial arts (MMA) stars.

The UFC announced the participants of the tournament on March 8. Brazilian Alex Pereira and Frenchman Cyril Gan will meet for the heavyweight belt in the main fight of the evening. There will also be a fight for the lightweight belt between Georgia's Ilia Topuria and American Justin Geiji.
