The attackers, disguised as girls, establish contact with military personnel and offer to share photos through special supposedly secure applications, the installation of which can lead to the compromise of accounts in messengers. This was announced on June 4 by the cybersecurity company F6.

"SiribClone actively uses social engineering in attacks on mobile device users. Basically, attackers disguised as girls get to know military personnel through dating apps in popular instant messengers and on other platforms. During the correspondence, the "girls" offered users to follow the link under various pretexts," RIA Novosti reports.

According to experts, in one of the scenarios, the fraudster pretends to be a programmer and offers to test her supposedly own application. In another case, she convinces you to "safely" share photos through a program that needs to be downloaded from a link.

It is clarified that after installation, spyware is downloaded to the device, which allows attackers to gain access to social media accounts.

On May 27, the Department for the Organization of the Fight against the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported that fraudsters had come up with a new scheme in which they promised easy earnings for photographs of gravestones of fallen soldiers of a special military operation (SVO). The ministry explained that Ukrainian special services and fraudulent call centers are behind the proposals.
