Two people were killed as a result of a kinetic strike by the Southern Spear Joint Task Force of the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) on a ship allegedly operated by terrorist organizations. This was announced on June 3 by the SOUTHCOM press service.

"On the instructions of the commander of the US Southern Command, General Francis L. Donovan, the Southern Spear Joint Task Force delivered a deadly kinetic strike on a vessel [allegedly] operated by terrorist organizations," the ministry said in a statement on its website.

It is specified that according to intelligence data, the ship allegedly moved along known drug trafficking routes in the eastern Pacific Ocean and was involved in drug transportation.

The New York Times reported on May 31 that at least 202 people had died as a result of U.S. strikes on allegedly drug-carrying civilian vessels off the coast of South America. It is noted that the strikes carried out by the United States continue to remain shrouded in mystery. Only a few bodies of the victims were subsequently found. Also, practically no physical evidence has been found that could indicate the criminal activity of the crew.
