- Zakharova said there were no proposals for a meeting between Lavrov and the Hungarian Foreign Minister.
Moscow has not received any official proposals from Budapest to organize a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Hungary's new Foreign Minister Anita Orban. This was announced on June 4 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"We have not received any official notifications, invitations, proposals from the Hungarian side to conduct such contacts," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Orban said on May 22 that Budapest was open to a meeting with Moscow at the level of foreign ministers if they had something to discuss. She added that, despite summoning the Russian ambassador in the first days of her inauguration, she did not consider it necessary to cut off diplomatic channels with Russia. According to her, everything happened within the framework of normal diplomatic procedures.
