Pavel Babinetsky, a student of Bryansk State Technical University (BSTU), an operator of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of a separate battalion of unmanned systems (UAVs) of the North group of forces, spoke about his decision to sign a contract and serve in the UAV. The relevant footage is published on June 4 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

According to the soldier, even while studying at the university, he could not remain indifferent to the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on his native Bryansk region. The young man signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense without dropping out of university: he continued his studies by correspondence.

"BPS troops are a very promising area. This is a new direction that was created by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Commander—in-Chief Vladimir Putin <...> for young people," Babinetsky said.

Babinetsky's father, a veteran of military operations in the Caucasus, supported his son's decision. Even as a candidate for military service, the student noted that he wanted to serve specifically in the BPS troops. The technical mindset and desire of the young man became one of the factors for enrolling in a full-time position as an operator of an FPV drone. This summer, the command gave him the opportunity to return to the university to close the session and take all exams and tests.

During his time at the training center, Babinetsky gained more than 350 flight hours on the simulator and the training ground. The private is currently consolidating his skills at the Engineering Troops training center of the North Group of Forces to improve the training of BPS operators involved in special tasks.

The training center has created several classrooms and playgrounds where military personnel hone the control of copters and ground-based robotic systems. Instructors train specialists in theory and practice, and operators increase flight hours on simulators and trails with artificial obstacles.

In addition, the training center of the engineering troops of the North group of forces trains commanders of calculations and sappers of a narrow profile. The cadets study the technical part, the practical assembly of unmanned systems, the analysis of ammunition and how to use them, taking into account the specifics of the tasks set.

"A BPS operator must understand the components of drones, what a drone is, and be able to assemble and disassemble it...> Also find and fix malfunctions in drones, and fly directly," said the instructor of the training center with the call sign Baikal.

On June 2, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the calculations of the BPS troops of the 114th separate Guards Motorized Rifle brigade of the Center group of forces destroyed strike and reconnaissance drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Dobropolsky area of the special military operation (SVO). During the combat mission, the drone control center received information about the need to destroy heavy Ukrainian drones that prevented the advance of the assault groups deep into the enemy's defenses. In response, the crew promptly prepared the Molniya-2 interceptor drone and carried out its covert launch.
