Rubio pointed out the need to maintain dialogue with Russia.
It is necessary to maintain diplomatic contacts between Washington and Moscow, as well as to continue the bilateral dialogue. This was stated on June 3 by US Secretary of State Mark Rubio at a hearing in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives.
He noted that Washington is considering the prospect of more constructive cooperation with Moscow in the future. Rubio stressed that the issue of resolving the Ukrainian crisis and relations between the two countries should be considered separately.
According to him, the United States is interested in achieving a peaceful solution through negotiations, while it is necessary to maintain cooperation with Russia as one of the largest nuclear powers in the world.
"At a minimum, we must maintain relations and engage in dialogue with Russia," the website of the congressional hearings quoted the head of the American Foreign Ministry as saying.
Rubio added that maintaining communication channels between countries remains an important element of international security and diplomatic cooperation.
On the same day, Rubio confirmed the readiness of the United States to participate in the peace process in Ukraine. According to him, the United States remains open to participating in diplomatic efforts aimed at finding ways to end the conflict.
Ryabkov noted on May 26 that the dialogue between Moscow and Washington on eliminating mutual irritants and normalizing relations is progressing rather slowly, it can be described by the phraseological unit "a teaspoon per hour." The Russian side, as Ryabkov clarified, calls on the American side to realize its responsibility for the implementation of the agreements reached at their joint summit in Alaska in August 2025.
