A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The North group of forces improved the tactical situation, defeated the manpower and equipment of the mechanized, airmobile, amphibious assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and two air defense brigades in the areas of the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. As a result of the actions of the Russian military, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 205 militants, 13 vehicles, four field artillery guns and an aerial reconnaissance station.

In addition, the Zapad group of troops defeated Ukrainian armed formations in the areas of the settlements of Senkovo, Samborovka, Staroverovka, Kharkiv region, Shchurovo, Sidorovo, Bogorodichnoye, Lozove and Krasny Liman of the DPR. The Ukrainian army lost up to 190 militants, three HMMWV armored vehicles, 16 vehicles, and three artillery pieces.

"The units of the Southern Group of Forces have improved their tactical situation. Formations of two mechanized, assault and mountain assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were defeated in areas of settlements <...> of the Donetsk People's Republic. The enemy lost up to 125 soldiers," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated storage sites, long-range drone launch sites, energy and transport infrastructure facilities in Ukraine used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 147 areas.

In turn, the air defense systems shot down six guided aerial bombs, six HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and 754 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 671 aircraft, 284 helicopters, 155,457 UAVs, 661 anti-aircraft missile systems, 29,593 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,729 multiple rocket launchers, 35,200 field artillery and mortars, 63,249 pieces of special vehicles.
