Mycologist named unexpected mushrooms in forests near Moscow

Candidate of Biological Sciences, mycologist Mikhail Vishnevsky told us which mushrooms can already be found in the forests of the Moscow region.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Wednesday, June 3, the expert noted that the situation in the forests near Moscow is now unusual: spring mushrooms have not yet gone away, but summer ones have already appeared.

He noted that the spring mushrooms started early and are still growing thanks to the snowy winter. At the same time, the first summer wave has already started. First of all, mushroom pickers collect sulfur yellow tinder, a large, tasty and nutritious mushroom that grows on deciduous trees and tastes like chicken. The mycologist emphasized that it is better to collect it young: over time, it becomes tough and begins to taste bitter.

Also, according to him, now you can find May ryadovka, oyster mushrooms and summer honey mushrooms. In addition, porcini mushrooms, horseradish, podberezoviki and butterflyfish have already appeared in the south of the Moscow region.

The other day, mushroom expert Dmitry Tikhomirov said that champignons, honey mushrooms and porcini mushrooms began to be harvested in the Moscow region and other regions. In particular, champignons are already being found near Domodedovo, and wild mushrooms, according to him, are more fragrant than store-bought ones, and they are difficult to confuse with poisonous ones. Mycologist Nikita Komissarov explained on June 2 that the early start of the season is associated with consistently warm weather and sufficient moisture in the soil. In May, it was reported that from September 1, 2027, they plan to issue a permit for the collection of red book mushrooms and plants through Gosuslugi. It will be possible to submit documents online, and the decision on granting a permit will be made within 15 working days, writes NSN.
