A resident of Cherepovets, who mutilated his father with a hammer and a screwdriver, was sentenced to two years in a penal colony and 500,000 rubles in compensation. This was reported to Izvestia on June 3 in the Cherepovets City Court.

In November 2025, a resident of Cherepovets quarreled with his 72-year-old father and inflicted multiple blows on his head and chest. The pensioner was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury, fractured ribs and a hydropneumothorax. It later turned out that the injuries caused him to have a mental disorder.

The witnesses who spoke in the case explained that the conflict between father and son had been going on for years. The man refused to work for "moral and ethical reasons" and lived at the expense of his parents, and after his mother's death he began to mock the pensioner. He wouldn't let his father into the apartment, threw out his food, doused him with cold water, cut the kettle cord, and mixed excrement into his sugar bowl.

The Cherepovets resident partially admitted his guilt. The man did not apologize or repent of what had happened, explaining his actions by his father's "immoral behavior."
