UEFA suspended FC Turan from the Conference League due to match-fixing
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has suspended the Azerbaijani club Turan from participating in the Conference League in the 2026/27 season after revealing the facts of match-fixing. This was reported on the organization's website on June 3.
"PFC Turan Tovuz is not eligible to participate in the UEFA Conference League of the 2026/27 season for non—compliance with the admission criteria provided for in art. 4.01 (g) of the Regulations of the UEFA Conference League of the 2026/27 season," the statement said.

The reason for the decision regarding the club, which is headed by Kurban Berdyev, was the disqualification of seven Turan players in 2019. The club intends to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to challenge the UEFA verdict.
On March 13, the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) suspended three football players from the St. Petersburg amateur club RV Challenge (Third League) from any football activity for five years for organizing a match-fixing. Denis Cherkasov, Artur Pilipchuk and Kirill Rogov were suspended for five years.
