- Russian Railways presented an interactive "coupe of the future" at SPIEF
Russian state-owned Russian Railways presented an interactive "coupe of the future" at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on June 3.
The compartment consists of several screens that simulate a passenger carriage. The development is equipped with touch-screen displays, and on one of the screens you can see a window with digital landscapes of Russia. There are four design options in different colors, including beige, brown and blue.
As the Russian Railways press service clarified in its Telegram channel, the compartment allows visitors to follow the evolution of the interiors of the carriages. Also, at the company's stand, you can vote for the design of the future sleeping car in size T — it is wider and taller than usual.
The company's press service announced on December 29 last year that the Board of Directors of Russian Railways had approved the investment project and the budget for 2026. The volume of the investment program amounted to 713.6 billion rubles. 531.4 billion rubles will be allocated to maintain fixed assets and ensure transportation safety. In particular, 288 billion rubles are intended for major repairs of rolling stock and infrastructure, as well as for the replacement and modernization of automation, power supply and communications systems.
