Alexey Mozhin, Advisor to the Chairman of the Bank of Russia, died at the age of 70. This was reported on June 3 by TASS with reference to his entourage.
According to the source, the cause of death was a serious illness. It is indicated that the adviser to the head of the Central Bank did not live less than three weeks before his 70th birthday.
Mozhin was one of the most experienced Russian representatives in international financial structures. Since the early 1990s, he has worked at the International Monetary Fund, and from 1996 to 2024 he served as Executive Director for Russia.
In the last years of his work in the organization, he was the doyen of the IMF Board of Directors. After completing his work at the fund, Mozhin took the position of advisor to the head of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina.
