- CENTCOM reported the interception of 122 Iranian-bound vessels since the beginning of the blockade.
Since the beginning of the naval blockade, the US Navy has already detained 122 merchant vessels linked to Iran. This was announced on June 2 by the press service of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM).
"American forces have redirected 122 commercial vessels to enforce the blockade," according to a publication in X (ex. Twitter).
Mohsen Rezaei, the military adviser to the Supreme leader of Iran, said yesterday that Iran would not allow the United States to maintain the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and further aggravate the situation in Lebanon.
The New York Times reported on May 31 that the US military had conducted about 70 commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz over the past three weeks, bypassing the Iranian blockade. Before crossing Hormuz, the crew of most ships turned off transponders for greater secrecy. Sometimes the route of merchant ships was at a distance from the coast of Iran.
