A resident of the Lipetsk region was sentenced for the death of a passenger in an accident

A court in the Lipetsk region sentenced a 19-year-old motorist for an accident in which his one-year-old passenger died. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office.

The accident occurred on the night of November 23, 2025 on a country road on the way from the Brigantine recreation center in the Gryazinsky district. It was established that a 19-year-old local resident lost control of the Haval car. The car flew off the road and crashed into a tree, the force of the impact tore it apart.

As a result of the accident, the 19-year-old passenger of the car, who was in the back seat, died. According to the prosecutor's office, speeding and the fact that the young man was not wearing a seat belt led to the tragedy. At the same time, GOROD48 writes that initially the 42-year-old mother of the motorist tried to take the blame for the fatal accident, but the truth turned out pretty soon.

The court found the young driver guilty under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person" and sentenced him to three years in prison, suspended with a two-year probation period. He has also been banned from driving vehicles for two years. In addition, he must pay 2 million rubles to the family of the deceased.
