A man who was preparing to kill five people was sent to Omsk for treatment.
The Pervomaisky district court of Omsk issued a ruling on a criminal case on the preparation of the murder of five people, the defendant was sent for compulsory medical treatment. This was reported on Tuesday, June 2, in the joint press service of the courts of the Omsk region.
It was established that from January to March 2025, a 32-year-old native of Yuzhnouralsk, Chelyabinsk region, who lived in Omsk, decided to commit the murder of his former teacher, two classmates and two work colleagues. The motive for the crime was gratuitous hostility. To realize the intent, the man made an improvised explosive device with poisonous properties.
The attacker failed to complete his plan, as he was detained by law enforcement officers at the end of March 2025.
"The court found it proven that the said person had committed acts prohibited by criminal law under Part 1 of Article 223.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal manufacture of explosives), Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal storage of explosives), Part 1 of Article 30 – paragraph "A" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (preparation for murder two or more persons)," the press service said in a Telegram channel message.
According to the conclusion of the forensic psychiatric examination, at the time of the commission of the offenses and currently the man suffers from a chronic mental disorder. In this regard, the court released the defendant from criminal liability, sending him to compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital.
On June 1, in Makhachkala, a 52-year-old man stabbed his older brother to death because of an undivided inheritance. The man came to his relative, the minibus driver, to talk about the division of property. The conversation escalated into a conflict, as a result of which the younger brother stabbed the elder with a knife.
