The New Movement Festival of Young Cinema has come to an end

On June 1, the closing ceremony of the Third Festival of Young Cinema "New Movement" took place at the Novgorod Regional Philharmonic named after A.S. Arensky. The main prize of the festival was awarded to the film "The Wind in my Head" directed by Arseny Moskovsky.

Traditionally, star guests, festival participants and honorary cinematographers walked the red carpet, including Artem Mikhalkov, Maxim Korolev, Trifon Bebutov, Nadezhda Koroleva, Daria Mikhalkova, Olga Zhuravleva, Maxim Dobromyslov, Anastasia Krasovskaya, Rinal Mukhametov, Vsevolod Kaptur, Ivan Sosnin, Vladimir Khotinenko, Alyona Babenko, Alexandra Revenko, Ksenia Teplova, Lyanka Gryu, Natalia Fenkina, Polina Lazareva, Hanna Mironenko, Denis Kosikov, Maria Lapshina, Anna Savranskaya, Ilya Malanin, Maria Nikolaeva, Elizaveta Ishchenko, Ekaterina Rayskaya, Julia Meshkinene, Victoria Shishkova and others.

This year, nine films participated in the main competition program: "The Wind in my Head" (directed by Arseny Moskovsky), "Where are you?" (directed by Veronika Korzhevskaya), "D-76" (directed by Alexey Zhitkovsky), "Zhuzha" (directed by Yulia Anishchenko), "My Own Bed is devouring Me" (dir. Vyacheslav Ivanov), "Not Gold" (dir. Tahmina Musset), "Surf Animal" (dir. Andrey Burmistrov), "The Sea-Sea Highway" (dir. Ilya Khramov) and "Someone Else's Call" (dir. Svetlana Belkina).

The jury of the festival included cameraman Vsevolod Kaptur, director and screenwriter Ivan Sosnin, theater and film actor Rinal Mukhametov and actress Anastasia Krasovskaya. The 2026 jury was headed by producer Maxim Dobromyslov.

The participants of the VGIK Film Critics Laboratory, one of the festival's partners, were the first to receive a special prize. Young film critics not only wrote reviews of the competition films, but also chose their own winner. The award was given to the film "The Sea-Sea Highway" directed by Ilya Khramov, "For striving for tomorrow and faith in bright changes."

The Vereteno film Company and the official social network of the VKontakte festival have established another special prize for the film participating in the competition program. Kristina Ivannikova, creative director of Vereteno, and Dmitry Berchuk, head of the Cinema department on VKontakte, announced the winner of the film "My Own Bed is devouring Me" directed by Vyacheslav Ivanov. The award guarantees the winner the organization of premieres and the opportunity to support cinema rentals, as well as promotion on the social network VKontakte during public screenings.

Another special prize of the festival is the agency support of Natalia Fenkina, an actress, teacher and founder of the educational program "First Steps in Cinema". It was awarded to actress Sofia Maksimova.

The jury members rose to the stage to present awards in the main five categories. However, before that, they performed a special festival dance for the "New Movement" to the stormy applause of the audience. "While everyone was relaxing, watching movies and having fun, my colleagues and I were discussing movies. Therefore, our little dance was not superfluous," Maxim Dobromyslov, chairman of the jury, said.

After that, he announced that in addition to the main awards, the jury would award special diplomas to three competitive paintings.

The film "Not gold" directed by Tahmina Musset received a diploma "For courage". Announcing the winner of the diploma "For Sensuality", jury member Ivan Sosnin noted that the award goes to a really gentle, soft and incredibly pleasant picture. The diploma of the jury was awarded to the film "Zhuzha" directed by Yulia Anishchenko. Vsevolod Kaptur named the winner of the third diploma. The diploma of the jury "For impressionability" was awarded to the film "D-76" directed by Alexey Zhitkovsky.

Then Vsevolod Kaptur announced the winner in the "Best Visual Solution" nomination. The jury member noted that he was genuinely impressed by the camera work in this film. The award was given to the film "My own bed is devouring me."

Ivan Sosnin announced the name of the winner in the nomination "Best Director". The winner was Arseniy Moskovsky. First of all, the director thanked his film crew, who "were able to survive any possible horrors that they staged."

Next, a member of the jury, actor Rinal Mukhametov, announced the winner in the Best Actress nomination. The prize was awarded to Daria Matveeva, who played the main role in the film "The Sea-Sea Highway".

The name of the winner in the Best Actor nomination was announced by actress Anastasia Krasovskaya. Denis Kosikov received the award for his role in the film "Someone Else's Call". After taking the stage, the actor thanked the members of the jury for their dancing and appreciation of their work.

Denis Kosikov (actor): "I want to thank the organizers of the festival and its producers. You have created a real cinema festival in Veliky Novgorod. Throughout the festival days, the city lived and breathed cinema. In our film, we talked about love, so I would like to wish everyone to believe in love and be happy."

The winner of the main prize of the festival was announced by the chairman of the jury, producer Maxim Dobromyslov, emphasizing that all the films of the competition program were excellent.

The entire film crew took to the stage. The participants thanked the organizers for the warm welcome in Veliky Novgorod and noted that receiving the main award of the festival for them is like fulfilling an old dream. Then Alexander Dronov, Governor of the Novgorod Region, and Artem Mikhalkov and Maxim Korolev, general producers of the New Movement Festival, took the stage and closed the Third New Movement Young Film Festival to loud applause.

The finale of the closing ceremony was a musical performance by presenters Denis Vlasenko and Maria Lapshina. Performing the song "I'm Flying", the artists effectively soared to the ceiling of the stage on a swing decorated with balloons, putting an end to the festival evening.

In just five days, the festival was attended by about 30,000 people. Within the framework of the "New Movement", a rich business program was organized, which was attended by leading Russian directors, producers, marketers, representatives of distribution and television companies, online platforms, film studios and media. They discussed film promotion, rental certificates, artificial intelligence in cinema and learned how to pitch their projects correctly under the guidance of Ivan Kudryavtsev. Nine projects at the final stage of production were presented at the Auteur Film Market, which were presented to distributors, festival selectors and potential partners.

The cultural program included the exhibition "The Legacy of the avant-garde", a discussion on continuity and a lecture on contemporary art. Residents of the city and guests of the festival participated in an exciting educational program: acting trainings and master classes in filmmaking from Kristina Pavlova and Alexey Flyazhnikov were held for children and teenagers, as well as Natalia Fenkina's three-day intensive "First Steps in Cinema" with the opportunity to receive real agency support.

The third festival of young cinema "New Movement" was held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Novgorod region.
