A video has been published showing the offices of international IT corporations, whose technical capabilities were used to eavesdrop on Russian officials. The video footage, provided on June 2 by the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia, shows buildings in the United States and Great Britain.

The footage shows the offices of Cloudflare and Fastly in San Francisco and London, as well as an office building at 19 Union Square West in New York City.

Cloudflare's services provide CDN services (network infrastructure for increasing the speed of content transfer), protection against DDoS attacks, and secure access to DNS resources and servers. Fastly is a cloud service provider.

"Obviously, Western intelligence agencies believed that it would be easier and cheaper for them to hack cell phones en masse than to recruit expensive informants among the holders of state secrets. They planned to collect data on contacts, plans and moods in society directly, without intermediaries like NGOs," said an employee of the special service.

Earlier on June 2, the FSB of the Russian Federation announced the discovery of a large-scale scheme by foreign intelligence agencies to inject malicious software onto the mobile devices of high-ranking employees. The purpose of the campaign was to collect data, listen to conversations, as well as conduct acoustic and video monitoring of the situation. A criminal case has been opened into the incident under articles on unlawful access to computer information.
