The State Duma clarified the procedure for calculating the alimony debt to unemployed parents

The absence of an official job does not release a parent from the obligation to pay child support. Bailiffs calculate the debt based on the average salary in the country. This was announced on June 2 by Dmitry Svishchev, a State Duma deputy from the Liberal Democratic Party.

"The debtor thinks: I don't work anywhere, and nothing will happen to me. Will be. The bailiff will calculate the debt from the average salary in the country. That's 90-100 thousand per month. A quarter of this amount is 20-25 thousand. Multiply by 12 months, by five, by 10 years. This results in hundreds of thousands, or even millions of rubles. And this debt will hang on the debtor until he pays," the deputy explained in an interview with TASS.

Svishchev noted that when the debtor evades payments, the courts, as a rule, side with the claimants. If a parent is in hiding, they may be put on the wanted list, and the debt will be collected from property, pension, inheritance, or funds from the sale of an apartment.

In case of non-payment, the deputy recommended that you first contact the bailiff service with a request to initiate enforcement proceedings, if they have not yet begun. If production is already underway, you must submit an application for debt settlement.

Svishchev added that if the bailiff is inactive or the debt is calculated incorrectly, you can file a complaint with the senior bailiff or go to court. According to the deputy, judicial practice confirms the legality of such a calculation, and after the discovery of the hiding debtor, the recovery will continue.

On June 1, the Social Fund's website announced the start of accepting applications for a new annual payment for families with two or more children. You will need to submit an application for registration, and the foundation will collect and verify the rest of the information on its own. There are four months to submit an application — until October 1.
