The number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has increased to 321, with three provinces affected. This was reported on June 1 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.
"The Democratic Republic of the Congo reports that the number of confirmed Ebola cases has increased to 321," the statement said.
It is noted that 48 people died of fever.
On May 15, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared an Ebola epidemic in the DRC and Uganda. On May 24, Reuters reported that 900 possible cases of infection had been identified in the DRC as part of measures to combat fever. Later, on May 25, WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced the deaths of 220 people in the DRC since the outbreak of Ebola.
On May 25, Yulia Minakova, an infectious disease specialist, associate professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology at Siberian State Medical University, reported that the first symptoms of Ebola are very similar to the flu.
