Hero of the Russian Federation Ryzhov appointed head of the Chelyabinsk Higher Tank School

Hero of Russia, Colonel Leonid Ryzhov was appointed head of the revived Chelyabinsk Higher Tank Command School. This was reported in the All-Russian movement "Union of Tankers of Russia".

"Colonel Leonid Vladimirovich Ryzhov, Hero of the Russian Federation Guard, has been appointed head of the revived Chelyabinsk Higher Tank Command School," the movement said in a statement.

Since February 24, 2022, Ryzhov has been participating in a special military operation (SVO), his unit distinguished itself during the crossing of the Seversky Donets River and in the battles for the liberation of Donbass. In January 2024, he was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation for his courage and strategic skill in performing combat missions.

It is specified that the appointment of the colonel to the post of head of the Chelyabinsk Military Academy is aimed at strengthening the traditions of tank training and using the experience of veterans of combat operations to form highly qualified officers.

According to the chairman of the executive committee of the Union of Tankers of Russia of the Guard, Lieutenant Colonel Albert Minigayazovich Gimaletdinov, the appointment of Ryzhov is a competent and balanced decision of the Ministry of Defense. He stressed that the combat experience and leadership qualities of the Hero of Russia will help prepare a new generation of tank commanders, and he is confident that the Chelyabinsk Military Academy will once again become a training center for elite officers.
