The recent attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) demonstrate Kiev's readiness for the most desperate actions, posing a threat to the nuclear safety of Europe's largest nuclear power plant. This was announced on June 1 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"These reckless actions (attacks on the nuclear power plant. They clearly demonstrate once again that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are ready to take the most desperate steps, including those aimed at undermining the nuclear and physical nuclear safety of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe," she is quoted as saying on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

As Zakharova pointed out, the Ukrainian authorities no longer hide their criminal and terrorist nature, and Western curators continue to supply Kiev with weapons, which increases the danger to the station and regional security. She stressed that Kiev's actions put not only residents of the country at risk, but also suppliers of weapons, and called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to give a fair assessment of the incidents.

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that Russia will continue to take measures to ensure the safe operation of the Zaporizhia NPP and prevent catastrophic consequences.

On May 30, Ukrainian militants launched a targeted attack on the hall of power unit No. 6. The situation was promptly reported to the IAEA staff. On May 31, the Ministry of Defense announced that the damage caused by the attack of Ukrainian drones was only 10 m from the reactor compartment. Later, Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Rosatom state Corporation, noted that the reactors of the NPP are protected from attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces with small shells, but in the case of a larger explosion, the risk of a nuclear incident that will affect Ukraine itself is high.

Yuri Chernichuk, Director of the NPP, stressed that the Kiev regime had turned the NPP employees into the main target of its attacks, seeking to destabilize the situation at the facility and bring the staff to psychological exhaustion. Renat Karcha, an expert on atomic energy, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Zaporizhia region, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are deliberately leading the situation to a nuclear incident with their attack and want to blame Russia for this.
