Mishustin stated the need to protect children from dependence on gadgets.
Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Russian Government, said at the award ceremony for children's and adolescent literature on June 1 that modern children should be protected from losing interest in literature and becoming overly involved in mobile games.
"Of course, our children must be protected from inattention to literature, to the works that you have mentioned today, and from not spending a lot of time playing games with their phones," he said.
Mishustin stated that the habit of quickly changing the picture on the gadget screen prevents children from focusing on school subjects and works of art. In his opinion, this problem remains relevant for everyone at the moment.
He also noted that adventure literature was one of the most interesting genres for his generation. Mishustin stressed that it is impossible to regain the interest of young people in books without the participation of writers, illustrators, schools and families.
On April 24, the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for combating cybercrime reported that loot boxes in video games are increasingly being considered by experts as mechanics similar to gambling practices. According to the agency, teenagers are most often interested in them.
