The Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified the requirements for parking electric vehicles

The provisions of the new set of rules "Parking cars. Fire safety requirements" do not establish a ban on parking electric vehicles. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on June 1.

On June 1, the Code of Rules 551.1311500.2026 "Parking lots. Fire safety requirements," the department noted. It does not tighten administrative liability, which applies to violators of fire safety, and does not establish a ban on parking electric cars. There are no restrictions on the placement of parking spaces for electric vehicles in open parking lots.

The provisions of the regulatory document apply exclusively to the design and construction of parking lots and do not affect facilities that are already in operation.

They set requirements for buildings and parking structures, as well as measures to limit the spread of fire in places where electric vehicles and charging equipment are located.

This will increase the number of parking spaces for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure in underground parking lots while complying with fire safety requirements. Expand the previously established regulatory areas of fire sections intended for storing electric vehicles and create more ways to limit the spread of fire, for example, install fire barriers or protect openings with fire curtains or water curtains.

For which the owners of such cars can be brought to administrative responsibility from June 1.

On May 19, the analytical agency Autostat reported that sales of new electric vehicles in Russia in April this year increased by 14% compared to the same month last year and reached 906 units. The most popular brand in the segment is Evolute, which produces electric vehicles in the Lipetsk region. During the month, 409 copies were sold in Russia, which is 45% of the market volume.
