The main prayer to the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God is named
There is a special prayer "To the Most Holy Theotokos before the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God." It can be read in front of the image, but it is also allowed to address the Mother of God in her own words, Natalia Fominykh, a religious scholar, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, told Izvestia.
"If a person makes a request sincerely, even in their own words, they will definitely receive an answer," the expert noted.
According to her, people turn to the Mother of God in front of the Vladimir Icon during difficult periods of life, asking for help in trials, reconciliation with people, strengthening faith and inner peace. Special attention in prayers is paid to family well-being, family preservation, requests for health and healing from various diseases. In church tradition, this image is associated with help with heart ailments, difficult childbirth and vision problems. Believers also ask for justice and consolation for those who face grievances and life difficulties.
The religious scholar recalled that the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God is revered as the patroness of the Russian land. They pray in front of her for the protection of the country and peace. Many miracles are also associated with this image, some of which relate to historical events.
"According to church tradition, these are the events of 1480, when the confrontation with Khan Akhmat ended, and the events of 1451, when Tsarevich Mazovsha approached the walls of Moscow. According to legend, the enemy heard an unusual noise and decided that the city was being defended by a large army, although in fact the Muscovites were at that time performing a common prayer in front of the image of the Mother of God," said Fominykh.
