Former world number one and 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams is returning to professional sports. This was announced on June 1 by the press service of the WTA tournament.

"The story. Heritage. Greatness. Serena Williams returns to the court. 73 WTA singles titles, including 23 Grand Slam titles," the press service wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The American tennis player will compete in doubles at the upcoming competitions in the British capital. The 44-year-old athlete also posted a video on her X social network page, accompanied by a confirming comment.

The first racket of Russia, 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva, reached the fourth round of the French Open Tennis Championship Roland Garros, held on the clay courts of Paris, on May 29. Thanks to this result, she became the youngest athlete to reach the fourth round of Grand Slam tournaments for three consecutive seasons.
