A possible cause of mass poisoning in a cafe in Pyatigorsk could be mayonnaise sauce. One of the victims, Melania, shared this assumption with Izvestia on June 1.

The girl said that she and her friends ordered food at the takeaway on May 30.

"There was their own mayonnaise sauce. <...> The only person who didn't get poisoned was the one who ate the chicken," Melania explained.

A mass poisoning in a cafe in Pyatigorsk was reported on May 31. On June 1, the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Stavropol Territory informed Izvestia that the number of victims had increased to 50 people. A criminal case has been opened into the incident.

One of those poisoned, named Ksenia, said that she had repeatedly visited the institution with her husband, but this time the couple took their children with them. Symptoms of an acute intestinal infection appeared within a few hours, and a day later the family was admitted to the hospital.
