In Malta, an explosion occurred at a fireworks factory, as a result of the incident, two local residents were injured — men aged 67 and 47, the MaltaToday newspaper reported on June 1.

The emergency at the Ta' Lourdes plant in the Magtab district occurred at about 06:30 (07:30 Moscow time). Residents of neighboring settlements said they felt the shock wave, and their houses were shaking from the force of the explosion. Windows were blown out in some buildings.

There was no one at the enterprise at the time of the incident. Two victims, who were in the fields near the plant at the time of the explosion, received minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

The death toll from the incident has increased to 12 people.
