Poisoned in a cafe in Pyatigorsk told about her daughter's severe abdominal pain

Ksenia, a woman who was one of the victims of mass poisoning in a cafe in Pyatigorsk, repeatedly visited the institution with her husband, but this time the couple took their children with them. Symptoms of an acute intestinal infection appeared within a few hours, and a day later the family was admitted to the hospital. The woman told Izvestia about this on June 1.

"On May 28, we arrived at the cafe, we had already eaten there, everything was fine. My husband and I bit into [food] four times. <...> The children asked for a bun, and they took one bite each. We arrived home and my husband started vomiting," Ksenia clarified.

At first, the couple thought that what had happened was the result of gastric bypass surgery, but the next morning the rest of the family felt unwell.

"We had such severe stomach pains that we couldn't even get out of bed. We had a high fever, slept all day, and didn't eat anything. I was severely dehydrated," the woman explained.

The medics who responded to the call took Ksenia and her daughter to the hospital, and the son stayed with his father for home treatment. A day later, the boy was also hospitalized.

"And my daughter, I still have severe stomach pains, but hers is worse, she screams and cries in pain," the victim said.

A mass poisoning in a cafe in Pyatigorsk was reported on May 31. On June 1, the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Stavropol Territory informed Izvestia that the number of victims had increased to 50 people. According to the ministry, 41 people are being treated in a hospital, and nine more are receiving outpatient medical care.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Article 236 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules that inadvertently caused mass illness or poisoning of people"). The investigators examined the facility and seized samples for examination.
