Iran and the United States are considering the possibility of including in the draft agreement on ending the conflict a clause on the reinforcement of the deal by a UN Security Council resolution. This was announced on June 1 by the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Bagai.

"We are still discussing the general provisions. <...> If a deal is reached, it should take the form of a UN Security Council resolution," Bagai was quoted by the Fars news agency in a Telegram channel.

According to the diplomat, the parties continue to exchange messages, but the final decision on the document has not yet been made. At the current stage, 14 main provisions of the future agreement are being discussed.

At the same time, the representative of the department clarified that Tehran does not consider a potential UN Security Council resolution as an absolute guarantee of the implementation of the agreements. The diplomat stressed that the Iranian side already has a negative experience when international legal mechanisms failed to ensure compliance with the agreements reached.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant said yesterday that US leader Donald Trump would achieve the implementation of a possible deal with Iran by both military and economic methods. He added that Washington has sufficient tools to ensure the implementation of potential agreements with Tehran and expressed confidence that the Iranian leadership understands the willingness of the United States to use various pressure mechanisms.

Tasnim news agency reported on May 31 that Iran intends to make its own amendments to the draft agreement on the settlement of differences with the United States. On May 30, Trump indicated that Iran, during negotiations with the United States, allegedly declared its readiness to abandon the creation and purchase of nuclear weapons.
