Fraudsters began to fake the voices of school principals with the help of AI

Fraudsters have begun using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to deceive the parents of graduates by faking the voices of school principals, classroom teachers, and university staff. This was announced on June 1 by Dmitry Golendyaev, a member of the Russian Bar Association.

"In 2026, new schemes appeared, one of them is calls using artificial intelligence from the dean's office or the classroom teacher," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the expert, the attackers contact parents on behalf of representatives of educational institutions and demand to transfer money allegedly to organize a graduation party or pay fines. For this purpose, voice deepfakes are used, imitating the speech of the leadership of schools and universities.

Golendyaev also spoke about another scheme that is gaining popularity on the eve of graduation. Ads for professional photo and video shooting of events at attractive prices appear on social networks. After receiving the prepayment, such performers stop contacting and do not appear at the event.

On May 25, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported that fraudsters using AI began to fake the voices of public employees of the Investigative Committee (IC) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The department also stressed that using neural networks, attackers produce realistic fake documents such as certificates, certificates and various resolutions.
