Trump and the Syrian president discussed over the phone the lifting of sanctions against Damascus

US President Donald Trump and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa held a telephone conversation during which they discussed the prospects for lifting the remaining US sanctions against Damascus. On May 31, the Anadolu agency reported with reference to the office of the Syrian leader.

Al-Sharaa told Trump that lifting the remaining sanctions on Syria would be a fundamental step towards economic recovery and reconstruction of the country, the statement said.
