The main astronomical events in June will be the convergence of Venus and Jupiter, which can be observed in the twilight sky, the summer solstice and the appearance of silvery clouds, Alexander Alekseev, a researcher at the Physics and Astronomy Department of the Tsiolkovsky State Museum of Fine Arts, said on June 1.

"On June 9th, the approach of Venus and Jupiter is expected. The two planets will appear side by side, and it will be clearly visible in the evening sky with the naked eye, but it will be possible to examine this unique phenomenon in detail using binoculars or a telescope," RIA Novosti quoted the source as saying.

On June 15, Mercury will visually approach Venus and Jupiter, and on June 17, the Moon will be located between these planets. According to Alekseev, all four celestial objects can be observed next to each other in the evening sky in the sector of about 15 degrees.

"On the twenty-first of June, the summer solstice will come — the longest day of the year. The full moon will end the month on June 30," the expert said.

He noted that June and July are traditionally considered the period of appearance of silvery clouds. According to the scientist, these high-altitude clouds are illuminated by the Sun, which is shallow below the horizon at this time, and they are best observed in the northern part of the sky closer to midnight.

On May 29, Alekseev announced that in June, residents of the Northern Hemisphere will be able to observe the constellations of Volopas, the Northern Crown and Hercules in the south and southwest. According to him, closer to midnight, the constellations of Lyra, Cygnus and Eagle will also be clearly visible in the southeast. The brightest stars of these constellations form the so-called summer-autumn triangle, which is easily discernible in the night sky.
