"According to the official, over the past three weeks, the US Central Command has helped approximately 70 commercial vessels pass through the strait," the publication says.

It is reported that before crossing Hormuz, the crew of most ships turned off transponders for greater secrecy. Sometimes the route of merchant ships was at a distance from the coast of Iran.

"The officials declined to say which types of vessels passed through the area and which route, but one of the officials indicated that at least one route did not pass near the Iranian coast," the article says.

It is noted that tidal navigation continues to be risky amid the stalled negotiations between the United States and Iran to resolve the conflict.
