In 2025, more than 7 thousand Russian tourists visited the territory of the DPRK, and this destination is becoming popular. This was announced on May 31 by the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kozlov, on the eve of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"Last year, more than 7 thousand Russian tourists visited the DPRK. This area is becoming popular due to the interest in culture and diverse types of recreation — from the Masikren ski resort to the coastal tourist area in Wonsan," he said in an interview with TASS.

Kozlov also noted that it is premature to talk about the statistics of Russian tourists' trips to the DPRK for the current year, since the summer vacation season is ahead. After that, it is planned to analyze the dynamics of the tourist flow.

In December last year, Kozlov also said that Russia and the DPRK are developing new tourism programs and do not rule out joint initiatives to create tourism infrastructure in the future. At the same time, countries pay great attention to the development of transport infrastructure, considering it one of the key factors for increasing the tourist flow. In addition, after the opening of borders in 2023, the number of Russians visiting the DPRK increased by about 20%.
