The heat wave in Turkey this summer may update long-term records. Meteorologist Ihsan Yurttash reported this on May 31.

"This summer, we expect temperatures above the climatic norm in almost the entire territory of Turkey. In some regions, the indicators may approach or exceed record values," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

It is noted that the strongest heat is predicted on the Mediterranean coast, including Antalya, Alanya, Belek and Side. In July and August, the temperature there can regularly rise above 40 degrees. At the same time, high humidity in the resorts will enhance the feeling of heat.

Hot weather is also expected on the Aegean coast, including in the areas of Bodrum, Marmaris and Kusadasi. According to the expert, the number of days with extremely high temperatures this summer may be higher than the long-term average.

The meteorologist recommended that tourists avoid prolonged exposure to the sun in the middle of the day, follow the drinking regime and follow the warnings of local authorities and weather services. Elderly people, children, and patients with chronic cardiovascular diseases should be especially careful.

In early May, the owner of one of Antalya's hotels, Mehmet Usta Bilginer, drew attention to the fact that Russians who come to the region's resorts have started drinking less alcohol this year. It is noted that the reason for abstaining from alcohol may be an increase in the proportion of tourists seeking a relaxing or family vacation in Turkey.
