The chemical industry plays a major role in the strategic sectors of the Russian economy and contributes to strengthening its technological sovereignty. This was announced on May 31 by Russian President Vladimir Putin in his congratulations on Chemist's Day.

"Dear friends! I congratulate you on the Chemist's Day holiday. The chemical industry is one of the significant, strategic sectors of the domestic economy, on the effective operation of which the technological sovereignty and defense capability of our country largely depend," the text on the Kremlin's website says.

This sphere, as the Russian leader added, also influences the dynamic development of fuel and energy, metallurgical, machine-building and agricultural complexes. The Russian President stressed that the quality of life of millions of people depends on it.

Putin noted the competence and determination of Russian chemists. He expressed confidence that Russian specialists, guided by their strong professional traditions, will continue to conscientiously and worthily solve the tasks assigned to them, as well as make efforts to increase human, production and research potential.

"I wish the workers and veterans of the chemical industry and researchers success, good health and all the best for the benefit of Russia," the president summed up his message.

Putin, on March 17, speaking at the VII International Forum "Resources for Growth. Chemistry for life: government and business", stated that the leadership of the Russian Federation in technological issues directly depends on the development of the chemical industry. In his opinion, it is necessary to continue to combine the efforts of the state, business, scientific and educational spheres in this area.
