Urban pigeons most often arrange nests in attics and in ventilation niches of buildings. Their nest is a simple pad of straws and twigs held together by the droppings of the birds themselves. This was announced on May 31 by Alexander Rusinov, senior lecturer at the Department of Ecology and Zoology at Yaroslavl State University named after Pavel Demidov.

The biologist pointed out that there is often an opinion on social networks that, despite the large number of pigeons in cities, no one has allegedly seen their nests. He added that such statements are misleading and "this tale was invented by illiterate people."

"Pigeons' nests are well known, they are located in attics and in ventilation niches of buildings, and sometimes in unexpected places — on balconies, loggias, stairs," he told RIA Novosti.

In natural conditions, pigeons nest in niches and caves of rocks, Rusinov said.

"The nest looks like a platform made of straws and twigs, cemented with the droppings of the birds themselves. There are two eggs, they are white and shiny. The chicks are covered with sparse, scruffy down, and hatch blind and deaf. At first, parents feed them secretions from the walls of the goiter, the so—called goiter milk, and later they feed them semi—digested grains," Rusinov said.

Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, announced on May 29 that a dog can bite guests by the legs for various reasons. He noted that such behavior is not always associated with fear or lack of upbringing. According to him, it is important to understand the nature of the animal's behavior.
