The US Armed Forces have disabled the Lian Star cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman. This was reported on May 30 by the Associated Press (AP), citing an American official.

"The ship was disabled by American aircraft in the Gulf of Oman and remains adrift there. <...> American forces did not board it," the publication says.

It is specified that the Gambian-flagged Lian Star cargo ship ignored numerous warnings from American forces while trying to enter the Iranian port.

On the same day, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that 20 vessels had passed through the Strait of Hormuz with the permission of the Iranian side. Other details, including the nationality of the vessels and the nature of the cargo, are not provided.

At the same time, on May 22, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that the US administration opposes Iran's charging fees for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, this is "illegal and unacceptable."
